His academic background also includes a master&#8217;s degree in plant biology during which he carried out a research project on the molecular detection of genetically modified organisms. In 2010, Mr. Gobeil joined Biopterre as a research professional where he is involved in the molecular quantification of mycorrhizae, development of biofertilizers and specialized crop substrates, development of soil health indicators and use of biochar in agriculture. Mr. Gobeil is currently focusing his work on the use of mycorrhizae in agroforestry and on innovative crops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Key Achievements<\/span>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Development of a process for inoculation of ericoid mycorrhizae with biochar on semi-cultivated low-bush blueberry to improve yields in poor soils<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Physicochemical optimization of biochar and identification of efficiency indicators for the capture of nitrogen compounds<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Evaluation of the performance of an LED lighting system for the development of white spruce embryos (<i>Picea glauca<\/i>) under <i>in vitro<\/i> conditions<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Prediction of various physical parameters of agricultural soils using mathematical models (pedotransfer function)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Assessment of the potential of coal byproducts for the replacement of vermiculite in nursery white spruce (<i>Picea glauca<\/i>) production<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fran\u00e7ois Gobeil graduated with a bachelor&#8217;s degree in agronomy from Universit\u00e9 Laval with a specialization in plant production after completing his college studies in agriculture.
