Gustavo Balduino Leite obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in molecular biology from Universidade de Brasília (Brazil), as well as a Ph. D. in microbiology from Université de Montréal, where he specialized in the metabolic engineering and physiology of bacteria, yeast and microalgae. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoc researcher in microbial biofuel production at Queen’s University (Kingston, ON), in synthetic biology at Concordia University (Montréal, QC) and in biostimulant development at the Institut national de recherche scientifique (Québec, QC). He also held a contract position as a professor at Université Sainte-Anne (Church Point, NS) and taught at Dalhousie University, Yarmouth Campus (Yarmouth, NS). Dr. Leite joined the Biopterre team in March 2023, bringing with him his scientific experience in the biochemistry and metabolism of heterotrophic and photoautotrophic microorganisms.
