About Biopterre

Mission and mandate

Our mission is to contribute to regional development by increasing the competitiveness of companies in the bioresources sector.

As a college centre for the transfer of technology, Biopterre carries out applied research, technology transfers and offers technical assistance and information services. We operate in the field of bioresources.

History

Our mission is to contribute to regional development by increasing the competitiveness of companies in the bioresources sector.

Biopterre—Bioproducts Development Centre is recognized as a college centre for the transfer of technology (CCTT) and it is affiliated with the CEGEP de La Pocatière and the Institut de technologie agroalimentaire.

Since its inception, Biopterre has experienced sustained growth in terms of its turnover, the number of client companies and the number of employees. In doing so, Biopterre’s revenue increased from approximately $450 000 to $2 236 000.

This is achieved by increasing the competitiveness of companies in the bioresources sector through applied research.

Our research topics are the following:

  • Biotechnology and horticultural products
  • Biomass and environmental technologies
  • Non-timber forest products (NTFP) and agroforestry
  • Mycotechnologies

Board of directors

Biopterre’s Board of Directors is composed of three (3) institutional members and five (5) partner members. The members for the current year are the following:

Project map

Biopterre’s clientele is now mostly composed of SMEs (59%). Almost 70% of Biopterre’s clients are located more than 100 km from its head office. Biopterre collaborates with over a hundred companies per year.
