Joël Passicousset holds a Ph. D. in process engineering from École Doctorale Abies AgroParisTech, as well as a French engineering degree in materials engineering. During his doctoral studies, he worked on the biochemical conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into ethanol using a pre-treatment, enzyme hydrolysis of cellulose and the fermentation of sugars. Working on the physicochemical parameters responsible for the reactivity of enzymatic hydrolysis, he has gained considerable expertise on the properties of lignocellulosic substrates and on characterization techniques adapted to these materials. He is interested in unconventional agricultural techniques (agroecology, permaculture, agroforestry, bio-intensive), bioremediation techniques and the development of low-techs. Joël joined Biopterre in November 2020.
